In this session, an experienced educational leader will provide strategies for building effective and productive teams. Molly Gilbert is a veteran who has taken on admissions office teams in very diverse environments, ranging from a Big 10 University to small, private boarding schools to a proprietary school. Her presentation includes tips on team-building through system-wide communication, establishing new processes and procedures, teaching staff to understand the big picture, and valuing competition among staff. She will also focus on a systematic approach to evaluating any team you inherit and how to decide who to keep and who to let go.
Molly Gilbert honed her skills as an academic leader nationally and internationally in educational institutions ranging from small, private boarding schools to "Big Ten" public educational institutions with some of the country's most successful leaders and educators. Today she has over 20 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education administration and almost 15 years experience in Marketing and Communications in both education and private industry. Ms. Gilbert’s Admissions career spans her own academic life and professional duties: She started her career in Admissions as a student employee and tour guide and went on to work at all levels of Admissions. Gilbert knows the critical elements that comprise a healthy and productive Admissions Team and has led rigorously diverse teams of 5 to 25 at a time. The result? Highly proficient leadership that is as effective as it is profitable. With strong communication, technical and interpersonal skills, Gilbert has built a reputation for what she genuinely loves doing -- maintaining a strong commitment to finding solutions that generate results.
Gilbert holds a BA degree in Political Science with a Russian minor, including 1.5 years abroad studying the language in both Scotland and Russia, primarily through an exchange program with the University of Minnesota and the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. She earned her Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in Human Resource Development through the University of Minnesota, and is currently dabbling in her Doctorate in Management at Colorado Technical University, when she can find the time to fit it in.
